How Long Does It Take To Flush Out Benzodiazepines From The System?
How long does it take to be clean of benzo. I had been prescribed them by my Dr. I have wanted to get off them as so as possible. My understanding is that my take up to a month. I find it interesting that other drugs have such a short half life and these linger for ever. Does weight, exercise, nutrtion ply into this role?
Hi & Welcome to HCM. Clearance depends upon the duration of action of benzodiazepines. The long acting benzodiazepines stay active for most of 12 hrs and usually take up to 5 half lives to get eliminated from body (about a week following a last dose). Since benzodiazepines are lipid (fat soluble) drugs, an increase in body weight can increase volume of distribution of benzodiazepines which may lead to increased elimination half-life and prolonged effect. Hope I could answer your query.
