How Long Does Metoprolol Take To Start Its Effect While Being On Visteril For Anxiety?

How long does it take for metoprolol to start working. I just started it last night. 25 mg. My bp reading at physicians was 159/98. I am having thyroid, hormonal and severe anxiety. Will the blood pressure med take a long time to take effect or should I start working soon? He also put me on visteril for anxiety. Are they safe to be taken at the same time?

Hello,

Metoprolol is used to control the symptoms like palpitations and tremors, it won’t control anxiety. To control anxiety you might require drugs like clonazepam.
However metoprolol is a rapidly acting drug and results will be obtained in a couple of days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
