How Long Does One Have To Wait For HIV Confirmation?

Hi, i really had a doubt...I receive oral sex during may be less than a minute, from a friend, who assures me hi is negative to hiv and others std. I went to a doctor, and he recomended today a hiv test, since had past 21 days from my riski situation..I call the lab and they told me they had the 4th generation elisa for testing, but the hesitates on told me how many days i had to wait, to had a confiable results...mi doctor assures me 21 days are enough...what are your recommendation..

4th generation elisa detect p24 antigen also. So it decrease window period. yes mostly 21 days are enough but still go after 30 days. No any harm if you tested a week later. But it will give more surity. So after a month of possible exposure.
