How Long Should Thyroid Medicines Be Taken Before An Operation?
Hello Doc,
My name is Cm.m,.,dra. I've a friend, female, 20th, is diagnone with graves disease. She was scheduled for operation last month then it was cancel since her tyroid hormone incresed. Doc told her to take medication. How long she need to take the medication before she can be operate? Is there any way she can be heal?

I can understand you concern regarding to your friend's situation.
Before getting surgical removal of the thyroid gland it's function should be well equilibrated.
It would be very dangerous otherwise.
Usually it takes months to get improved with oral tablets.
We recommend a 6 months period of treatment before undergoing surgical removal.
