How Long Stage 2 Food Should Be Given To A Baby?

my boyfriend's baby is 14 months old and still on baby food. I mean like stage 2 jar food. He gags when there is any kind of texture in the food. He will even gag if he gets baby food on his hands. We were told by the mother that the nurse said to go back to stage 2 jar food and stick with that for the time being. My boyfriend and I are concerned about this and don't agree with the nurse about going backwards. Is there something medically wrong with the baby? How can we help him progress?

Hi,
I would suggest that you should teach the baby to chew the food. The reason for vommiting is the baby is trying to swallow food and hence when there is even a little bit of texture then it will cause vommiting.

For training the baby to chew, you have to put the same food into your own mouth and show the kid practically. They are very smart, they will learn. Probably you can keep swithching to and fro with the stage 2 and stage 3.
