General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear, welcome to healthcare magic forum.Usually antibiotics take 5-7 days for complete effect.but some response and relief will be seen within first two days itself.otherwise we have to think of changing the antibiotic or look for any pus collection.
Anyhow fever and swelling around ear in a child usually indicate mumps, which is a viral infection. Main treatment is antipyretic ,plenty of fluids, and bed rest. Antibiotics will prevent secondary infection in this condition.
As your child is having fever even on 3rdday,kindly get back to your doctor.
Thank you
