How Many Months Of Hospitalization Is Required For A Person Who Goes Through Surgery To Remove The Lower Part Of His Leg ?

how long would a person have to be in hospital after having a lower part of a leg removed My husband is waiting to have the lower part of his leg removed due to an infection in the bone of his foot, he is 60 yrs old, and has parkinson s disease that effects his left arm when not controlled by drugs, how long would the stay in hospital be after the operation, roughly? He has been in for two weeks now, they told him last monday he would need to have the lower part of his leg removed, and said it would be treated as a planned operation, what ever that means.

Hi,thanks for query.Planned operation means there is no emergency.His physical fitness will be needed to go for surgery.so if there are any issues related to his health are to be addressed it will be done and then surgery will be planned.This also depends upon the preference of doctor.After surgery normally about 1-2 weeks hospitalization will be required depending upon the dressing and recovery of wound.
