How Much Risk Is Involved In A Child Using A Toy With A Battery Which Could Cause Cancer, Birth Defects?

I bought my 18 month old grandson riding toy with a 6-volt battery. It came with a warning that "the state of Calif. has determined that the battery emits chemicals that can cause cancer or other birth defects". Do you know how much risk is involved. Thank you.

If battery is sealed it does not emit any chemical. If it is leaked then it contains lead based poisonous chemical. So leak proof battery should be used. Inbetween battery to be checked and replaced in time. It will be advisable not to use battery operated toys for child.
