Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am over 65 and very sensitive to drugs. I have been having back pain for 2 weeks. The doctor prescribed Meloxicam 15mg for me. After picking it up from the pharmacy I am reading all kinds of warnings about heart attacks, etc. How safe is it for me to take this drug.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Almost all drugs have side effects. All are given outweighing benefits to side effects. It is ok to take meloxicam for short duration. It have6comparatively less side effects than other NSAIDs. If you already have heart problems then it may increase your chance of getting a heart attack. Thanks.

Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. All NSAID group drugs can increase risk of heart attacks. But this is there if you already have heart problems. It is ok to take for short term otherwise. Thanks
