How Safe Is Myralax For Constipation?

I am just wondering what I should do next. My daughter who is 17 has not had a BM for a week or longer. We have been to the dr and they ordered a x-ray that showed constipatation and told us to use myralax for 2 days and if no results then go to the ER. We did that along with a laxative in between. We went to the ER today and the dr sent her home with another med to try. It was suppose to work within 2 hours and if no movement to repeat again. Still no results. What do you suggest?

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

If Miralax isnt helpful then she may try with laxatives such as glicerin suppositories. ALso,sge may at times need to try a laxative such as Fleet Phospho-Soda, Milk of Magnesia.
Constipation in this age may be caused by several issues, however she need to increase fiber intake such as bran and other whole grains found in cereals, breads, and brown rice, vegetables such as brussels sprouts, carrots, and asparagus, Fresh fruits, or dried fruits such as raisins, apricots, and prunes Beans. If there wont be improvement then additional tests should be done such as colonoscopy, anal sphincter manometry and food allergy testing.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
