How Safe Is Oxcarbazepine Solution For A Toddler Suffering From Seizures?

How safe is Oxcarbazepine solution for a 3 yrs old who just had for a first time an episode of a few seizures, one after another, that lasted about 1 hour altogether? She was unresponsive and did not respond to treatment for a few hours. Her eeg showed some predisposition to seizures, but all the other tests were normal (CT scan, MRI, etc)

In this situation I would prefer to use Valparin than Oxcarbazepine and the former's side effects are less than latter's.
