How Safe Is Crestor Over Lipitor?

i have been taking lipitor but developed pain in my legs docter switched to crestor but feel the same same pains are coming back afew years ago i was taking zokar had no symptons at that time would that be worth while to try zokar again iam 83 years old had a heart attack early in my 46 year will the possible damage done to my legs ever get better? thanks for any advise you can give jim frie

On the one hand it is felt that the muscle effects are somewhat dose related and that crestor will have a bit less than the equivalent lipitor dose (80 mg versus 20 mg) on the other hand, it is very likely that the small number of people who have a muscle reaction to one statin will have the same reaction to all statins.

Generally we go with niacin instead.

The pain from the statins is all over all muscles. Indeed, it's hard to see how a drug that goes everywhere would only attack one area. Everyone I've ever had this happen to gets better in about a week after the statins are stopped entirely.
