Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Meftal-p can be given if the temperature is not controlled by Crocin. Usually, Crocin (paracetamol) is the safest drug to reduce the raised body temperature in young children. It can be given with dosing of 15 mg/kg/dose in 6 hours. However, if fever is not responding to Crocin or recurs more frequently (less than 6 hours), then you can give meftal-p in a dose of 5 to 8 mg/kg/dose 3 times a day. Each 5 mL of meftal-p contains 100 mg. So the dose will be 3 to 5 mL/dose.
Give plenty of fluids to maintain hydration. Do tepid sponging as it is a very good remedy to bring down the temperature.
His throat infection should be treated by using appropriate antibiotics by his treating doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
