How Should A Rapid Heart Rate, Anemia, Low Blood Pressure Be Treated?
Hi, My wife had a dermoyd cyst removed a few year ago and with it her left ovary. Every since then, she has had a really hard time during her period. Lately, she has experienced a rapid heart rate. She is 23 years old and 105lbs. Generally healthy but she is a smoker. She rarely drinks alcohol and doesn't do any drugs. Her water intake is good as is her diet. She doesn't feel any stress, although, our life is rather stressful. She is anemic and has low blood pressure and her heart rate averages around 100bpm during her period. Is this something we should worry about?
Anaemia per se is a cause of tachycardia and so correcting it will also relieve the tachycardia. How much is her haemoglobin?
And yes if it is significantly low it should be treated with iv or oral iron therapy. Smoking and stress also cause baseline tachycardia so try to avoid both.
I'll still recommend getting an ECG and a 2D echo done to rule out any possible cardiac abnormality.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
