How Should Diabetes, Heart Problems, Legs Swelling And Darkening Be Treated?
My mother in law is suffering from heavy diabetis and having heart problem as well. since last 7 months, her legs are swelling and even her feet are started getting darkened. Her feet are also having puffiness, due to which she can not walk much. She takes dose of insulin twice daily (M-12ml. - N-20ml.) And the other major problem, which I would like mention here is, her body (lever), gives reactions, if she tries any ayurvedic or other alopathic medicines. Kindly guide. Thanks & Regards, Shubhada Surve.
Hello welcome to HCM.I have read your question and understand your concerns. Longterm diabetes can damage heart, kidneys, eyes and multiple systems of the body. Leg swellings, breathlessness on walking ,decrease appetite are all symptoms of heart failure ,as well as kidney damage. My advice to you is -
1.Get her 2D-echo done to understand how is her heart pumping and other parameters. Her blood pressure should remain normal to avoid further damage to heart and kidney.
2.Do FBS,PP2BS And HBA1C levels every 3 monthly because control of blood sugar is of utmost importance.S.creatinine levels to understand kidney functions is also important.
3.If feet are getting darkened then it might be impairment of the blood supply to the affected area. For that she can undergo arterial doppler study to see the blood supply of legs.
4.Tell her to be on regular followup of cardiologist and diabetologist. Thank you. Tave a nice day.
