Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Should Excessive Liver Enzymes With Gout Be Treated?
I have just been inormed that I have excessive enzymes in my liver, this was established through a fasting blood test, the doctor also mentioned something about Gout but was very vague. He has recommended I come in 5 months for a further blood test, is this a wise move or should I be investigating this further now?
I understand you concerns and will explain at you my opinion. If I was your caring doctor, I would have done an ultrasound of your abdomen to check if there is any problem with your gallbladder (stone for example), your liver and pancreas and your biliary ducts. For liver enzymes to get back at normal range, usually we need 30 to 60 days, or sometimes even 90 days.
I suggest you do an ultrasound of your liver just to make sure that everything is fine.Meanwhile here are some advice to help your liver recover faster and to help to get back at normal the liver enzymes:
- have plenty of water - fresh fruits and vegetables - low fat diet. Avoid fast food and fries - yoga, small amount of exercise - avoid alcohol
If you have any other question, feel free to ask me. I will be happy to assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Endri Katro
