How To Avoid Duoluton Mediated Side Effects?

hi , my girlfriend aged 27 years was having regular and 3-4 days periods every month. But she was having severe pain for the first two days and for that she consulted a doctor. without proper checkup the doctor prescribed her duoluton l for 21 days and asked to continue it for 6 months. after starting the course she faced the sideeffects of it and then we searched about the med in internet. Now she had taken it for 7 days starting from the 5th day of her period and want to stop taking the drug immediately. Is there any problem if she stops the course? will she start bleeding immediately when she stops it? if so then how to avoid it? please suggest something as we are verry stressed and tensed.

Duoluton L (ethanol estradiol and levonorgestrel) is mainly used as a combinational contraceptive pill but it is often used off label for many conditions. As you have not mentioned, what was the diagnosis and why was this course initiated, it is very difficult to say whether to stop the drug immediately or not.
And the side effects which she is facing now due to the tablets are also not mentioned. If the compliant is only pain during periods, then there are other medications like tranexamic acid taken three times a day that can give symptomatic relief.
I would suggest you to take a second opinion with all the reports before taking a call on stopping the drug. Hope the above information helps. Thanks.
