How To Control Blood Sugar Levels Which Is Not Normal After Medication?

I am dibetic since 10 years, at present I take insulin N & R 10+10, twice day. + duotrol tablet 3 times.
Even after taking this medicines, my blood sugar remain above 150mg/dl fasting and after lucn its touches 250mg/dl
please advise, how I can control blood sugar at norm levels age 51.

Thanks for your query and positive outlook regarding the disease control.

You know that diabetes can not be cured but fully controlled if a patient maintains 3'D's:Diet,Discipline and Drug properly.Diet and discipline solely depends on patient and I believe that you better know it.

Your target level for blood glucose control should be less than 126 mg/dl for fasting and less than 180 mg/dl for 2 hours after breakfast.

If I were the treating physician ,I would advise you to do the following laboratory investigations first:
> Fasting and 2 hours after breakfast blood glucose
> HbA1c ( to see control over few months)
Then I would emphasize on diet (diabetic diet) and discipline (timely food habit,regular physical activity etc) and finally may increase the dose of insulin.

So I would suggest you to meet your local doctor and get the above investigations and finally adjust the dose.
