How To Control Urinary Incontinence While Suffering From Enlarged Prostate?

I am suffering from the problem of enlargement of my prostrate gland and as per the latest test done size of my prostrate is 2.2. I had also done urine flow test and certain other tests 2 years back and as per the doctor all the results are normal. But for the past 5 years I am suffering from urge to go for urination especially in the night i.e. every 2 hours I get urge to pass urine. During day time also the urge to urinate occurs every 2 to 3 hours.As advised by my urologist I am taking Solitral and Trompan 5 for the past one month. But there is no relief for me. What is the way out to control my frequent urge for urination? Is there any other medicine available. My age is 57 years. Please advice. Thanks, VB

Thanks for query .You have obstructive urinary symptoms due to enlarged prostate confirmed on ultrasound Scanning .

You have irritative bladder symptoms like urgency and nocturnal frequency and have been taking Silodosin and Oxybutinine with unsatisfactory results .

I would suggest you to take anti muscuranic drug like Darifenacin once daily .This will definitely help you to control urgency and frequency for urination ..

Consult Urologist for revaluation and digital rectal examination and following tests repeated to confirm the size of the prostate and post void urine residue
1) Ultrasound Scanning of abdomen and pelvis
2) urine routine and culture
3) serum PSA

You can explore and discuss need for surgery of TURP as apermanent solution to resolve your problems..
