How To Cure Bursitis Bilateral Hips?

I have Bursitis bilat hips, have just went to a new Dr. arthritis DR. and he injected both bursa with solumederol, I started out 2hr inafter having shots with leg aching and then by late evening had to pull myself up the stairs, I can hardly walk and I am in horrible pain, I have had injections on and off for my chronic Bursitis and never had such a sever reaction, had to call in at the Hospital because it hurts horrible lying and getting up from lying and sitting up , I called the Dr., which I haven t been there before, he didn t talk to me and the nurse talk to him she was very abrupt with me and said the Dr. said it had crystallized and it would be better in a few days, I guess hi causes a flare up, but i am taking Biaxsin for a sinus infection ,he gave me Tramadol, I am allergic to many preservatives, what do you think is happening with the injections, can t hardly walk, horrible, nothing is working, thk you Shirley Maguire

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Solumedrol injection contains on mixture with solution contains methylprednisolone sodium succinate equivalent to 40 mg methylprednisolone; inactive ingredients include 1.6 mg monobasic sodium phosphate anhydrous; 17.46 mg dibasic sodium phosphate dried; 25 mg lactose hydrous; 8.8 mg benzyl alcohol added as preservative.
Any component can cause reaction and hence your pain looks to be related to one of the constituents causing so severe pain and incapacitating.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Get a MRI of both the hips done as it would show the changes and help determining the cause and the possible management.
Also needed would be antihistamine and oral steroids in sufficient dosages to have counter effect.
Take strict rest at the moment till advised to move around.
Chances of flushing out the solution or crystalized part should also be considered.
I find this answer helpful
