How To Cure Irregular Bowel Movements ?

I have had irregular bowl movements for 3 weeks with a yellowish tint to my stool that is often a similar consistency to toothpaste. Today my stool was covered in green mucus and I have been bloated with stomach cramping for 5 days now. The cramps/bloating seem to be worse in the morning and at night. I have also had a body temperature that is one degree lower than my average and have felt weak or fatigued daily. Some of the other symptoms I have had are sudden dizziness and nausea, feeling colder than usual, I lost 10 pounds in the last 3 weeks, my eyes are bloodshot and itchy today, acid reflux, stiff neck muscles and back muscles. I was prescribed 1 mg Alprazolam nightly as needed for anxiety, prozac and Omeprazole for the acid reflux. I began all of these about a week ago and my appetite is better now and my acid reflux is more in control now as well. However, my stool is still yellow and my bowel movements are even more irregular now, I might add that the bloating and abdominal pain began after starting the medication and that those symptoms as well as my dizziness and low body temperature are my biggest concerns. What could be causing all of this? I have had countless blood tests run and they have all came back normal CREATININE     1.2     0.7 - 1.3     mg/dL GLOMERULAR FILTRATION RATE     80-NB           GLUCOSE, UA     NEGATIVE     NEGATIVE     mg/dL KETONES, UA     NEGATIVE     NEGATIVE     mg/dL SPECIFIC GRAVITY, UA     1.010     1.005 - 1.030      UA HGB     NEGATIVE     NEGATIVE     Ery/dL PH, UA     8.5     5.0 - 8.0      PROTEIN, UA     15 (TRACE)     NITRITE, UA     NEGATIVE     NEGATIVE      LEUKOCYTE ESTERASE, UA     NEGATIVE     NEGATIVE      BILIRUBIN, UA     NEGATIVE     NEGATIVE     mg/dL UROBILINOGEN, UA, QL     0.2 (NEG)     NEGATIVE     mg/dL ALT     15 GLUCOSE, RANDOM     95 TSH     1.31 IRON     141      TOTAL IRON BINDING CAPACITY      IRON SAT     41      FERRITIN     156.5 I am currently waiting on results from multiple stool tests and am curious what could be causing this? Something like an IBD? A parasite? Or is it possible that this is all mental, which I believe is highly unlikely. Should I get my digestive track x-rayed? Throat scoped? Have a Sigmoidoscopy or Colonoscopy? I must stress once more that I have been feeling COLD and have been fatigued with extremely irregular bowl movements and sudden dizziness that comes and goes. There was also pain in my chest but that has gotten better after taking prilosec. Overall I feel better but do not feel right by any means. I had heard that some of these medications can cause diarrhea and dizziness, although the dizziness was present a few days before beginning the medication.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Issue is due to multiple factors affecting intestine tract as

- chronic infection - inflammatory bowel condition
- alteration in gut flora
- digestive enzyme deficiency
- activity level related
- food pattern - others.

* A colonoscopy is must to proceed for the final comments.

* Till that time, plenty of liquids, high fibre diet and avoidance of iron medications is mandatory.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
