How To Cure Painful Blisters Caused By Pederin In Acid Bug. Can Rubbing Raw Potato Slice Help?
Hello doctor, I am very concerned about the "Nairobi Fly" (Paederus sabaeus) blisters, the blisters are caused by the Pederin contained in the acid-bug. I have no idea how to cure the painful blisters. Some say rubbing the area with a raw potato slice might help. Is this true? If it is, why is it? At night, I have over 200 of these bugs in my patio, it's terrible. Thank you.
Thanks for your query. Unlikely that potatoes will be helpful with these pesky bugs. Your best bet would be DDT insecticide applied to your clothes and to the area vs other more gentle pirethrin sprays for your skin and clothes; wear long sleeve shirts and pants or dresses when going out.
Citronella is a natural plant that does work as a repellant.
Hope that helps, wish you the best,
