Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My doctor told me that I have a severe vitamin D deficiency. I can not take any form of vitamins orally, They know there is the possibility of injections, but haven t found where to get it from, or if it needs to be made out of compounds to be able to inject it. I am not sure why it is so difficult for them to figure out, because there is a large teaching hospital in the area, but they haven t been able to find an answer. My vitamin D level is 11, and dropping. I can t stay online, so left my email. Thanks, Lauren
Welcome to HCM. Your vitamin D is quite low. So, you need to not only replete you but maintain your level as well. Very little vitamin D is absorbed from the sun and unless you consume fortified foods, chances of continuing with a vitamin D loom high.
Yes, they do make vitamin D injections. I do not know where they are obtained from, such as what company.
Since you are not able to take pills you can find chewable multivitamins and there will soon be chewable calcium/vitamin D pills. If you can find the drops, that would be suitable for you (if you were my patient), 5,000 IU daily until repleted and then drop down to 1,000 IU daily. Thank you so much for checking with HCM.
