How To Get Rid Of ADHD Disorder?

Hi my name is Kedric Milholland and I m sixteen. I recently talked to one of my friends about his ADHD disorder and have realized I have some of the very same symptoms. In school I am a very bright student (mid to high A s) but have trouble completing homework. I normally get perfect tests scores, but almost never achieve my goals, because I can t get good grades on my homework. Most of the time I cram it in at the last second and don t finish it all or copy someone else s work which is usually wrong. When I do get the urge to do homework, I tend to work fast and leave out some of the directions which get s me docked points. In class when the teacher is lecturing, I listen but don t process it. Right after the lecture I forget the important details and hints that teachers give to help you remeber things. While I m at home I do many things at once, like when I sit down to do homework, I am always watching T.V. and on the computer, doing my homework at commercials or whenever it is convenient. I ve always associated this with being a multitasker, but now think it s because I have some form of ADHD. When I type papers or letters (such as this one) I ll stop in between writing a sentence and go back to the top and edit the whole thing. This causes me to lose my train of thought and forget to add things, making the story incomplete. When I go to work, I tend to do tasks in sections, never fully finish one task, and can never do one thing consistently for more than ten minutes. For instance I ll do half the dishes then wander off doing some other task leaving the work to be done by someone else, which annoys them. These symptoms seem coralated with ADHD, but could be some other disorder in disguise. I was seeking your professional advice on to whether or not this could be ADHD and if I should see my physician. I m an aspiring doctor and afraid that this could ruin my chances to become one. I just want to be able to focus on teachers during school, remember things clearly, and be able to finish tasks. Hi,

1. Although you have not taken any specialist opinion and have deduced by yourself having features of ADHD [attention deficit hyperactivity syndrome] thus getting an opinion and examination by your attending physician or neurologist and later by a psychiatrist [if deemed necessary] is vital. I at most can let you know about the outcome of the disease:

* Signs of ADHD are mainly related to attention, decreased concentration, and forgetfulness which can be managed with medicine but there will be minimal effect on the senses which are aggravated with the slightest of a stimulus.

* the problem will arise when one can't live up to expectations or fail in their task so best management is self-assessment and try to correct it in the best possible way.

* In Ayurveda, we hold VATA responsible for the said disease and since the disease is of mind (where senses are located) thus initially one has to regularize your sleep pattern, eating pattern and avoid anything which disrupts or excite the senses. [like coffee, refined sugar, alcohol, hot spices, mustard oil, pickles, pepper ] which further weakens the nervous system and increases inattention and hyperactivity and self-assessment is important.

2. The prescribed medicine and lifestyle should be followed for a minimum of three months

A. please take a note that person with ADHD in later stages gets preoccupied with ideas of death, so it is extremely important that you take all issues seriously and seek immediate treatment i.e. talk with your parents, friend, or your doctor to get some help.
* If having issues at school [concentration problems] then talk with the school authorities/administration about the same.
* At this stage, you should incorporate the following guidelines and later restore to an alternate system of medicine

i. Get professional help: either mental health professional, [for bipolar disorder] treatment facility, or a doctor's appointment.
ii. Follow-up with treatment.
iii. Encourage positive lifestyle changes, exercise is also extremely important as it releases endorphins, relieves stress, and promotes emotional well being

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
