Hi! whenever a patient visits my clinic with any kind of leg lump which is sore and red, I usually get following possibilities as per needle biopsy experience:

1. an abscess 30%

2. infected inclusion cyst 30%

3. benign tumors like dermatofibroma, lipoma or neurofibroma 20%

4. benign tumors of the bone or tendon 10%

5. soft tissue infection like folliculitis , panniculitis etc..10%

Therefore, it is time to see a surgeon for an opinion and please don't worry as this is infective only and never malignant!

regards,
