Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a hypertensive patient of about 10 years. I have tried just about every hypertensive category of meds there is to try. Even combinations of them. I do suspect some CHF. Echo revealed some thickening of the heart muscles. ASA causes my joints to ache really bad. HCTZ causes the same as well as alopecia. BP ranges almost everyday from 201/92 to 172/78. Pulse ranges from 60 70 bpm. I take Bystolic 10mg, 2 in am and 1 @ HS. Have lost 12lbs. Still over weight. Walk as often as I can at least 1 mile. BP was lower when I was able to walk 1 mile daily. Lowest was 142/74, P 54. So tired of this. Took my PRN Clonodine 0.01 mg last 3pm yesterday and BP lowered to 188/72 from 198/101. Took another one @ HS and this am was 182/76, P 70. Any suggestions. Was thinking about Cardiologist consult.
Hi Welcome to Health care magic. I understand your query and concern. You certainly seem to have uncontrolled blood pressure. This warrants further investigation in the form of renal angiogram, since resistant hypertension to more than 2 drugs points to secondary hypertension. Its always safe to maintain blood pressure under 125/80 mm of hg.CHF revealed on echo needs correction with drugs like dopamine and dobutamine along with diuretics. This should keep you BP under strict control.Restrict the intake of salt to less than 6 gm/day.Repair of renal artery stenosis with stent will help to cure the disease.I advise you to have a baseline 2D echo and ECG on semiannual basis for better cardiac assessment.Consult an expert cardiologist for further help. Post your further queries if any. Thank you.
