How To Manage Phlegm Formation And Dischage_GR ?

My father 83 yrs. old , last month ie.1st of April 2011, he had stroke, his left hand paralaysied. He is kept under observation in 40 days in Hospital. During the stay in hospital he had phlegm formation and portion of phlegm discharge thro. suction. Due to prolong phlegm formation he had breathing problem, hence Doctor adviced to use Nubuliser giving three time a day. I would request any other way to control the phlegm formation. Father is now discharged from hospital and at home we started Physio therapy both morning & evening . Stroke detail His right artery had blood clot, in turn total supply to right side brain affected and his left hand paralayised. kindly advice how to mangage the phlegm formation and discharge.

Hi,

Thanks for using Health care magic.
Since the patient is paralysed on one side,and he has lots of phlegm i would suggest he continue with pysiotherapy.
You could start giving him hot water fomentation for his chest congestion.And also nebulisation with antimucolytics thrice a day.
Also give him warm food and warm water.
Try to mobilise him as much as possible.

hi,
pt is paralysed his one side and not doing proper movement so this phelgum saturates in lugs, you are doing physio allready, but try to mobilised him two times in day,envornment around him is having fresh air,ask him to inflate balloon or such exersice.
Give him warm water to drink.Do hot fomantation of chest by sesaman oil(TIL) which
is easily awailable mix salt a pinch in that make it hot, a turkis napkin make it suck and keep that on chest once in day, or just apply karpoor oil on chest.
