How To Reduce Swelling In Face Due To Graves Disease?

I have recently been diagnosed with graves disease and was taking prednisone and methimozole for about a month or a little longer. Within the past 3 weeks I have been seeing an alternative md and started with nutrional program which improved my thyroid condition and so I discontinued the original meds. However, my face (temples and cheeks) are extremely swollen and I'm feeling exhausted all the time.

Hello,
I can understand your concern and i would advice you not to discontinue the treatment.
It is given to treat ocular symptoms that accompany hyperthyroidism.
Corticosteroids have side effects and the most common is weight gain.
Before deciding to discontinue the treatment you should get the opinion of your treating physician.
Do not hesitate to ask further if you have still queries.
Best wishes,
Dr.Mirjeta
