How To Reduce Weight Of A Child Without Affecting Health?

Hi I am the mother of a 14 year old daughter who is five foot and five and three quarter inches and is about 10 stone. Diabetes and obesity do not run in the family so is this weight healthy for her? If not please give me some advice on diets she can go on while not affecting her health. Thank you

hi,
Thank you for writing to Health Care Magic , i understand your concern.
Considering your daughter's age and height , her ideal weight must be around 110-120 pounds. You say obesity and diabetes do not run in the family, i suggest you to get a thyroid profile done for your daughter .
Also get routine blood tests done to be on the safer side.
Its not difficult for her to lose weight since she is a teenager and active.
Completely avoid giving her junk food, high calorie food and oily food.
give her a balanced diet with increase servings of fruits and vegetables.
Ask her to drink atleast 4-5 litres of water per day.
Get her involved in some kind of sports in school or some exercises ( running, jogging, cardio) to lose calories.
It wont be too long before she begins to weigh normal if she continues this diet plan and exercises.
Hope this helps .
Take care .
