How To Reduce Weight While Suffering From Diabetes?

I m 49 y/o currently 309 lbs and a new type 2 diabetic. I have been walking in the mornings for exercise for approx. 30 to 45 min for a little better than a month. I also use 3 lbs hand weights when I walk. I ve also have been trying portion control and almost no sweets or added sugar (sometimes I do have a sweet maybe once a week). I take Metformin 500mg BID and Januvia 100mg daily along with Lisinopril 20 mg daily & HCTZ 25 mg daily. My weight is staying the same. What can I do to jump start my weight loss?

Hello! Thank you for writing.
Diabet type 2 is an insulin resistent, which means that your pancreas produces insuline but it doesn't work properly in the tissue. Muscle is the main tissue which uses glucose the main fuel by the action of insuline. Muscles have GLUT 4 a transporter for glucose inside the muscle which is used to provide energy. Among the studies training in the afternoon helps a lot against this insulin resistance because the muscle have a circardian rythm . So I suggest you to train in the afternoon. Thank you and best regards.
