How To Regulate Parathyroid Hormone And Calcium Levels In A Kid?

My son is 15 years and he is his calcium levels are high. His PTH value is 103 and his Calcium level is around 12. Doctors are saying this Parathyroid hormone is secreting excess calcium. His calcium levels caused Pancreatitis and now he is fine. His PTH and Calcium levels need to be regulated. This is a very rare situation to occur to kids of this age group. Is this something you treat? Please let me know.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Calcimimitic drugs circulate in blood. They mimic calcium and stimulate parathyroid hormone in lesser amount. Thus lessening calcium blood levels. Please take the kid to an endocrinologist, he would examine him, get him investigated, know the basic cause and advise suitable Calcimimitic drug along with treatment of basic cause to have a full fledged control.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
