How To Relieve Muscle Tightness Causing Pain?

I am 53 and have been working out with a trainer and experiencing different tightening on my muscle bands all over and it is painful. I had a deep tissue massage a few times, but I am wondering if at my age if I m am just over doing it. The pains sometimes are jolting and mostly at night. I do stretch but how do I get my neck to relax? Should I go in and get this checked or curb my training? Need help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI,
I understand your concern.
- After 50, the bones, joints, vertebral column ( & the discs in between) tend to be weak due to calcium/vitamin D deficiency& degeneration.Severe physical training at age of 53 , may lead to pains / muscle pulls like you have.
* You should consult an Orthopedist & get physical examination / Xray or MRI done to exclude spinal problems.
You need- Treatment of spinal problem if any( Rest,Physiotherapy to relax neck , pain medicines,)
In case no boney problem-Pain killers( NSAIDs), vitamin D, Calcium supplement, massage, hot or cold packs will help .
Thanks.
