How To Speed Up Recovery Of Compression Fracture In Thumb?

hi there, 47 years old, 15 stone, 5 ft 5 I have m.e, fibromyalgia.... I have a compression fracture in my thumb after closing the car boot on it! This happend a couple of weeks ago, however the doctors failed to recognise it was broken until very recently. They put a bandage on it, but it wasnt supporting it at all and so i took it off. I have to drive a very long way to drop my daughter off at her university and I was wandering if there was anything i could do to speed up the recovery or just help it in general? thank you

Hello,

Without seeing the fracture it is hard to asses if it needs surgery. If the doctors have assessed it does not need surgery, then the only thing to do is having it immobilized with a bandage. Make sure you don't need calcium and don't smoke. Smoking will make recovery longer.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
