General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Its dose should be gradually reduced over several days/weeks. Sudden cessation of propranolol can cause withdrawal symptoms such as increased heart beats, increased blood pressure, palpitations, and chest pain. Hence if you wish to stop taking propranolol its dose should be gradually reduced over several days or weeks under the supervision of your doctor.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
