hey my baby is a year old I took her to her health care provider today because she had a bad smell plus puss coming out her ear an the doctor said he hadn t seen anything like it her ear drum was unvisbile an it was dry hard an sore all in her ear im puzzle he refered me to a doctor Monday its Friday whats wrong with my baby ear I can touch it an she immedeamtly falls asleep

Your child other than suffering from
1 .A chronic middle ear infection (CSOM ) -mostly due to recuurent colds and sorethroats or bad hygiene.

2 .Cholesteatoma is the name given to a collection of skin cells in the ear that form a mass (lump). It is a pearly-white greasy-looking mass that can be seen when examining the ear.

Cholesteatoma is an uncommon condition where a cyst-like growth develops in the ear. It can be a congenital problem (birth defect) but usually occurs as a complication of chronic (longstanding) ear infection. The most common symptoms are loss of hearing and a foul-smelling discharge from the ear. It is not a malignant disease but can affect the hearing of the child.

3.Cerumen impaction-accumulation of ear wax can also cause fullness, dullness of hearing , pain , foul smell from the ear and discharge from the ear.

The pus can be collected and sent for a culture test and microscopic examination to help diagnose the exact cause of the discharge .
