Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 2 3/4 year old is frequently bitten in daycare. The teachers do nothing. I have two concerns: one, that he will feel this is appropriate behavior and start biting, but more importantly, that he will, seeing no response, believe it is ok to be victimized. What do I do?
Is your child sensitive in nature? Sensitive children need more protection from their peers who might bully, hurt or tease them. You must teach your child to resist such behaviour and be more self- assertive. Being a victim to such behaviour will only make him more vulnerable as he grows. Tell your child that this is not done. Ask your child to raise his/her voice when someone attacks him physically. Talk to the carers in day care centre about this situation. If they remain ignorant or indifferent even after your complaint, then try to put your child in another day care centre. But do not wait till situation gets out of control. Hope you will find out a possible solution to resolve this problem.
