How To Stop Itchy Body, Swelling And Rashes On The Limbs After Finishing Penicillin 500MG 4X A Day?

Hi Doctor, I recently finished taking penicillin 500MG, 4X a day for two weeks. Now I have a severe itch in my hands, and other parts of my body. My hands are swollen, and I developed a rash on my legs and arms. I ve tried taking Benadryl tablets, but nothing seems to stop the itching. Can you help me, please?

Hi,welcome to healthcaremagic forum.
Itchy rash points towards an allergic reaction,but it may not be from penicillin,as you have already completed the course(i guess you do not have previous history of penicillin allergy).Since there is rash allover the body with severe itching,you please consult your doctor as soon as possible.It needs immediate administration of steroids and antihistaminics.Otherwise,it can progress to systemic allergic reaction-a serious condition.But you need not worry.Timely intervention will give quick relief.
