Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My baby is 10 months old.Since the last 3-4 months hes been having a stuffy nose Also he is passing semi loose stools every 4 to 5 days;otherwise they are fine. His weight has not increased in the last 4 months,he is around 7.8 kg and his birthweight was 3.36kg.Otherwise he is an active baby and takes his food properly.I have used saline drops for his cold and also given him digestive drops on doctor s advice. But still hes not cured. Please advise.
Plz state when you started supplementary feeding? Is breastfeeding still continued... At age 10 months infant need around 1200 cal a day... I.e. around half the amount of food healthy mothers with sedentary lifestyle eat... You need to visit a pediatrician and calculate amount of calaries, proteins and fats baby is taking... Additionally you have stated baby always have stuffy nose though upper respiratory tract infection is commonest in infants need to access seviarity of infections as recurrent infections do lead to weight loss... Weight for hight is to be acessed... If needed blood tests and stool exam will be needed... It is to be done after proper clinical history and examination... So plz do visit a pediatrician...
