How To Take Oxycodone Tablets For Severe Pain After Total Knee Replacement?

I have been prescribed Oxycodone 10/325 to be taken 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours AND Oxycodone 5 mg. every 4 to 6 hours for breakthrough pain. Does this mean I take all of these at one time? I am taking for pain after total knee replacement surgery.

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these pains after your surgery. I hope your recovery is going on well. The instructions mean that you should take 1-2 tablets of oxycodon 10/325 every 4-6hours on a regular and continuous basis. If you should still be in severe pains in between doses, then you can take 5mg of oxycodon 5mg. If you should not be in severe pains, then you do not need to take oxycodon 5mg.

In all, oxycodon 5mg in between doses of 10/325mg should you have severe unbearable pains.

I hope this helps and I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
