How To Treat CIPD?
Thank you , my father suffering with CIDP , diagnosed in India in Medanta Hospital , He made Plasmaexchange & took IVIg treatments two times, but he didnot response to all these treatments , Iam asking why ? is there any probability it may be another type of Neuropathy. Iam living in Iraq

Hello,
CIDP stands for chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy. This is a neurological disorder characterized by progressive weakness and impaired sensory function in the legs and arms.
Treatment consists of corticosteroids (e.g. prednisone) prescribed alone or in combination with immunosuppressant drugs.
Your father already did plasmapheresis (plasma exchange) and intravenous treatment (immunoglobulin IVIg).
Although no good response, he needs to run physiotherapy. It will help improve strength, function and mobility, and minimize the muscle weakness.
To rule out other types of neuropathy EMG (electromyography) and NCS (nerve conduction ) studies are highly recommended. They will show demyelination.
Discuss this further with his neurologist, and ask to hire physiotherapist.
