How To Treat A Swollen And Painful Thyroid Gland For A Thyroid Patient?
A month or so ago I injured the left side of my inner thigh at work. I work for a medical supply company and a hospital bed frame that was intended for cleaning was leaning on a wall near an entry way to our bathroom. I opened the door as i came out my foot stepped on one of the corners of the foldable frame and it came forward from the wall and jabbed me in the crotch. That hurt but after a minute or so i was able to shake it off. As time goes on no more pain. I take thyroid medication and I was thinking that my thyroid is acting up which brought on the swollen gland and the pain again. My question now is what do i take over the counter? or would a heating pad help?
Hi thanks for your question. You are a hypothyroid patient on replacement therapy (i presume so as you have not mentioned your hypothyroid or hyperthyroid). Now you have developed pain and swelling in thyroid gland a condition called as thyroiditis in addition you have also injured your thigh. Your thigh injury has nothing to do with thyroiditis. This is due the inflammation of thyroid gland and over the counter medicine are not indicated for this condition. You need examination by a physician to establish the cause of thyroiditis,so that it can be treated accordingly. Don’t delay in consulting a physician as further increase in swelling can hamper with your breathing and may lead to emergency situation. Hope this answers your question.
