How To Treat Abdominal Pain, nausea And Presence Of Leucocytes In Urine?

several weeks ago i noticed a lower abdo pain, didnt think much of it, but then started experiencing slight burning when urinating, so as i work as a staff nurse i decided to do urnialysis, it showed leucocytes were present so went to A n E they gave me trimethroprim, week later i retested and i was clear, couple of days later the pain was back, retested leucocytes back again. spoke to Drs on ward, they gave me augmentin, had terrible nausea, so stopped taking them and phoned GPs was told a prescription would be left 4 me 2 pick up and they asked for a sample. week later i retested was clear, then again couple days later pain returned retested same again. sent a sample off for C & S it was inconclusive as it showed combined growth, sent another 1 it came back as no growth, i was again given trimethroprim which i finished tuesday just gone, was back at work wednesday so retested as i am now having continual abdo pain with nausea, my urinalysis shows leucocytes, nitrates, protein and blood. what else could it be if its not a UTI

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a bladder infection.

I suggest doing a urine test and a urine culture to confirm the diagnosis.

Through these examinations, we can confirm the presence of a bacterial infection and the antibiotic that can treat it.

Meanwhile, I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen to relieve the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
