How To Treat An Open Cut On Head?

My son cut his head open on a cabinet and has a fairly decent gash in his head. He has no health coverage and cannot go to the Doctor. I want to see if someone can look at it and tell us how to treat it at home? I think he needs stitches and he doesn t want to get them.... he s 21.

Hi,
In open lacerated wound there are dirt n debris following trauma . so first clean it with soap n water n savlon / dettol . If any bleeding then Apply pressure such that haemostasis achieved . Apply antiseptic lotion (like betadine ) or ointment and do dressing .
There are chances of brain injury through head injury which needed to be ruled out or If bleeding not stopped need to visit emergency dept for further management along with antibiotic .

Hope this ll help

thanks n regards
