How To Treat Bone Marrow Edema And Calcification On The High Cervical Spine?

My brain surgeon told me I have the most complicated spine he ever saw. There are twists, turns, arthritis, and calcification. My big issue is the area around C1/C2 and the base of the skull, calcification and bone marrow edema. If surgery is needed, Doc said he could not operate; I would need a sub specialist. Should I worry?

Hi,

You may need to clarify your question about "should I worry" since, I don't understand what you may be worried about?. The surgeon who tells you that you have one of the most complicated anatomies, would send you to a sub-specialist. This sub-specialist is doing the right thing by telling you that someone else is better suited in your case.

I suppose, I'd be worried if it were your brain surgeon doing the operation. But since it's not the case, I would not worry about his opinion at this point. With respect to any future surgery, just wait to see what the sub-specialist says in the future.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
