How To Treat Brown To Red Discharge With Mild Cramps During Pregnancy?

Hello, I am around 5 weeks pregnant (LMP was 1/24/11) with my first beta-hCG on 2/24/11 was 260 and yesterday s 2/27/11 was 1800 and nothing visualized by TVUS yet. I am scheduled to go back on wednesday. Since 2/23/11 I have had brow to red discharge that comes and goes with mild cramping like abdominal pain that also comes and goes. Is this normal? and is it also normal not to see anything on TVUS at this beta-hCG level?
