Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my son is 6 years old, he had a dry cough for almost 20 days and after that he developed new problem, i.e. during night in deep sleep he has been having cough once and during that period he is having problem in taking breadth, so doctor prescribed levolin, codylex, montaire and budecort 200 mcg rotacap. After using these medicines for about 20 days he is still not completely ok, so what should I do?
I went through your son's history. I assume that there are no symptoms other than dry cough.
Were I treating your son, I would prescribe him montelukast-levocetirizine tablet and syrup levosalbutamol for 5 days. I would also advise him warm saline gargles if he can perform comfortably. Avoidance of smoke, dusts and air-pollutants will help.
If his symptoms improve with this treatment, I would continue montelukast-levocetirizine for total 2 weeks.
However, if his symptoms do not improve, further evaluation would be recommended.
Hope this will be helpful to you.
Wish your son a quick recovery and the best of the health.
