How To Treat Drowsiness, Tachypnea, Distress, Rapid Heartbeats Caused By Kerosene Ingestion?
hi doctor , I am a pediatrician , i have got a case of 2year old child who has consumed unknown amount of kerosene and is drowsy , tachypnoeic , distress +, heart rate 126/min ,respiratory rate 60/min. what is the prognosis ? how do you manage ? Child is on IV fluids , oxygen , prophylactic antibiotics,

Hi,
Don't do gastric lavage. The child requires continuous ventilatory support with oxygenation. Blood gas analysis is to be done. Please refer the child to a higher center if you are not well equipped with around the clock intensivists.
