My wife who is 47 years old, and who has been diagonised with a bulky uterus, has also a Fibroid, Gets irregular menstrution - Doctor has prescribed Sevista which she is taking once a week for last three months - And since then her mnestruction has stopped almost? Please advise whether she should continue taking Sevista or stop taking it...Please also let me know whether she must have got the menopause... and if so, whether the Fibroid will get dissolved on its own...
Bulky uterus can be seen in parous women. Fibroid can lead to menstrual irregularities like heavy menstrual cycles and pain during periods. Sevista by acting as estrogen receptor modulator can help in shrinkage of the fibroid. Sometimes women may not get periods while using Sevista.
After completing the course better to undergo repeat ultrasound examination to find out change in size of the fibroid. Sometimes due to the effect of the tablet and also age gradual menopause can be attained after stopping the tablet. Once she attains the menopause the size of the fibroid will shrink automatically. Please consult your gynecologist, discuss these things and proceed according to her advice.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
