How To Treat Fluid Extraction Mediated Lung Pain?

I recently had fluid around my heart, went to ER, they drained it. Fluid caused bottom of my lung to collapse. I was told that I might end up with pneumonia and I'm pretty sure I do. Lungs hurt. I'm experiencing pain in my upper back, near bottom of shoulder blade, just to the left of my spine. It feels like a pulled muscle. Would it be advisable to apply ice and heat to my back, or would this be a bad idea because of my lung issues? I will be headed to the Dr. tomorrow for a follow up.

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your back ache. Yes, Applying ice and ice might help in decreasing your pain. An analgesic might help as well.

As you have said, you should meet your treating doctor as soon as possible.
