How To Treat High Fever In A 7 Years Old Child?

My 7 year old son has high fever, along with vomiting, any fluid that goes down comes right up, body aches, sore throat that is really red...what could be wrong dr says wait it out the night and they will try to get him in, in the morning...Keep in mind no allergies, and son has NEVER been sick!

Hello. Thank you for your question. The symptoms you describe are very common in this age range. This could be something as simple as a viral illness, in which case it will resolve on its own. Fluids, rest, and acetaminophen as needed, are all that is required. This could also be a bacterial infection, especially in the presence of a sore throat, in which case antibiotic will be necessary. For this reason it is important to get checked out as soon as your doctor can see him.
